As a youth hockey coach, I use Scout Elite Live to make my job easier and help my players learn. Here’s what the app can do right now, and what’s coming next.
What Scout Elite Live Does Today
Live Game Event Clipping
Track goals, penalties, and custom notes during games, right from your phone. Instead of scribbling on paper and hoping to remember context later, every event is timestamped automatically. When you go back to the video, Scout Elite already knows exactly where to look.
Instant Game Trends
See stats and trends as the game happens, so you can make real-time adjustments. How many shots did the third line give up in the first period? Where are the turnovers happening? This kind of visibility used to require a dedicated stats person. Now it fits in your pocket.
Automatic Video Annotation
After the game, publish your Scout Elite Live session to Scout Elite Xpress, upload the game video, and the events you tracked link automatically to the right moments in the footage. No scrubbing. No guessing. Just your clips, ready to review. This feature alone saves me hours per week.
Team Review and Communication
Use your clips to communicate with your team in context. Instead of describing what you want to correct, you can show it. Players respond differently when they can see exactly what you mean – and when they can watch it again on their own time.
Multi-Device Collaboration
Parents and team helpers can track events on their own devices during the same game. Their data feeds into the same session. More perspectives, more coverage, fewer moments that slip through the cracks.
How It Fits Into Your Game Day
Here’s how I actually use Scout Elite Live each week:
- During the game – I track key events live: goals, breakdowns, sequences I want to revisit.
- After the game – I publish the session and upload the full game video. Scout Elite automatically annotates it.
- Next day – I review the clips, trim what I want to keep, and build a review for the team.
- At practice – I pull up the review and walk through it with players directly.
What used to take 2-3 hours of rewatching and manually clipping now takes 20-30 minutes. That time adds up over a full season.
What’s Coming Next
The next big feature is a new “Review” session type. Soon, you’ll be able to:
- Organize clips into sessions for specific groups (e.g., “Defense Review,” “Offense Review,” “Goalie Review”).
- Take a full game, clip it, and then add select clips to different reviews for different groups.
- Keep sessions short, focused, and relevant for every player.
Update: Reviews shipped in October 2025. Read the full announcement
That’s the current state and the roadmap. If you’re using Scout Elite Live, I hope this helps you get the most out of it and I’m excited for what’s coming next!
